Himachal Diaries: Part Four
Day Three (03.07.2024): Exploring Sangla
Sangla is a beautiful town nestled in the Baspa valley in the Kinnaur district of HP. We started off the journey at 4pm in camper vans to the Bairing Nagji temple, reached there at 4:30pm. What a breathtaking drive it was!
Bairing Nagji temple
The temple's main deity is Lord Bairing Nag, who is believed to be the protector of the village and its people.
Since the temple was closed, we spent sometime here clicking photos and then drove to the Kamru fort base.
Kamru Fort
Kamru was capital of the Bushahr. The fort is a 7 storeyed building. Bottom two storeys are made of rocks and the rest five storeys are made of wood. According to a folklore there are about 33 koti gods and goddess residing in the fort.
We had to walk the steep slope and then entered the base gate. There is Badri Vishalji temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
We climbed zigzag stone steps to the top and reached by 5:20pm. We had to wear a belt and kinnauri cap to enter the temple premises.
We worshipped the Goddess Kamakhya, clicked in the surrounding.
We were back to the base gate by 6pm. Some visited the local monastery.
We reached the hotel and ate pakoda and tea-coffee. Few strolled in the market for fruits and other things. Then we had free time to relax for the day. We had dinner at 9pm.
I got the bag ready for tomorrow and dozed off. It was a chilling night.
