In which I explored the capital of Sweden

Good morning from Stockholm! I woke up at 7am and had breakfast at 08:30am. Post that I was chatting with Anuradha and Seema Kedar at the reception. No luggage load today! Then I sat near the reception area with the group, members added up and we clicked a photo. 

We left the hotel at 09:30am. It was an easy morning today, no rush for sightseeing. We also picked up our tour guide.

Sweden is the largest Nordic country by both area and population. Over two-thirds forested, nearly 100,000 lakes, and thousands of islands along a rugged coastline. Borders Norway (west/north), Finland (east), and the Baltic Sea (south/east). Stockholm is the capital and largest city of Sweden, often called the “Venice of the North” for its graceful waterways and island setting.

We passed by the Gamla Riksdagshuset (old parliament house) and Kammarratten (administrative court), the Riddarholmen church, Central station, etc. 

We drove roads leading to the Sergels Torg and Gustav Adolfs Torg. 

We parked the bus at 11am to visit the Strömparterren waterfront park, located in Norrström east of Norrbro on Helgeandsholmen. The park had chestnut trees, traditional fishing boat parked at the port. 

We were back to the bus in half an hour. We passed by the Kungliga Dramatiska theatre and saw an ocean bus. 

We reached our first sightseeing for the day at the Avicii arena at 11:45am.  

Sky View

Glass gondola rides along the outside of the Ericsson Globe, the world’s largest spherical building. The group of 36 was divided in three, each having 12 members. There was a 5min presentation about the gondola and the panoramic view of what all we will see. Then we boarded the gondola, the ride was of 20mins.

We were back to the base and the search for restroom begins. We reached the adjacent mall for the same. Done with it, we left the venue at 1pm. We drove to another city, Vaxholm. It was an hour drive. We had lunch in Best of India restaurant, Hamngatan at 2pm. I had lunch with Shilpa, Amita Yadav and Sonal. 

Post lunch, we strolled around the area. We passed by some fresh tulips, old fire station, church, etc. 

Some had coffee and we drove towards the Vaxholm fortress. We reached the port area at 3pm. It was a 5min ferry journey in the passenger boat, Daphne, between Vaxholm and Kastellet fortress.
