School Days: Marathi Period

Since I was studying in English medium school, Marathi subject started at a later stage. We had the basic akshar (letters) in Class III, taught by Shweta Patil teacher. Post that the subject was taught in full fledge from Class V. Hence we had to not only learn the basics asap, but also write short essays in the language. Vartak teacher (Ranjana Vartak) taught us from Class V to Class VII. With initial difficulties, we got the grip on the language eventually. Mangella teacher (Saroj Mangella) taught us from Class VIII to Class X. Her period was more of a story telling session from Grandma rather than a usual session. We enjoyed to the fullest as well as learnt a lot from her. She asked questions, made us read the whole lesson, etc. I had also participated in different essay writing competitions, getting the writeup approved from her. All the years of learning my mother tongue in school is a memory now.
