Shifting Stories
July
2016 ended with the news of two teams shifting from KTS5 to HO, Asian Paints House. Those who had to shift
were not at all happy with this idea. It seemed like being sent to a boarding school
away from home. We (team EUC, team MDM,
team FiCo) reluctantly shifted to HO third floor in Aug 2016. There are
only two lifts, a semi-circular staircase, at the entrance
of the third floor there is a cash
counter. The desk is L shaped
with only three drawers. There is a namesake pantry; too small to carry on with the chai talks but we kinda got
adjusted to it. The only good thing I thought of in the initial days was, we
could directly go to the canteen without getting drenched in the flying rains
during lunchtime. I could see both past (Kalpataru
Synergy) and future (Kalpataru
Inspire) from my present desk (Asian
Paints House). System’s family was going to shift in Inspire in Feb 2017. The
only reason to go to KTS5 was Integration ++ and farewells; otherwise there was
a cut-off from my Systems friends. Now there were face to face interactions
with users; it was good as well as bad. I made many new friends. Other functions
on the floor were Audit, Corporate Communications (Dipika Dubey and Arun
Nair) and Accounts. The Accounts team had Sunita Mankar (my desk neighbour), Ninad Sonawane, Apurva Parab, Darshan
Chaudhari, Swapnali, Kavish, Tinoy and Venkat Sir. Everyday I got to
hear the keywords like PF, Pension, Sabbatical case, Gratuity, Factory, Differential
interest, etc. It was quite interesting to listen something different and I was
curious to know more. I saw those cheque rolls getting printed and too much of stamping and stapling. Amazing morning conversations included, “What
points are you going to close today?” “Tumne promise kiya tha!” “I like your
dedication” “The table should be clean” . This team has to work
till late on month ends just to ensure that all get salary on time. It was nice to
have them as neighbours, would definitely miss them. My area was a bit noisy
and disturbing due to con-calls on adjacent desks. But I had to adjust with it,
no other option!
Peaceful place in HO |
By mid December, the whole IT
floor shifted to HO. Now the family was split into three floors. We were
already on third floor: Sayali, Chandu and the Basis
team joined us. The first floor was then
HR now IT. Second floor became HR-IT
floor. It was fun finding out who sits where; going up and down! Lucky ones
got the desks and luckier ones got the meeting rooms (Pocahontas) and cabins on
second floor. Let’s look into one of the cabins: presenting you the Toy Museum
made by the cabin crew (Poonam the captain, Kiran Chonkar, Abhishek
Pillai and Satish).
Now our new place is ready and we are all set move
there. The desk choice was a lucky draw. We had to pick chits today in canteen.
We have a house warming pooja on 13th Feb. I promise to write a
picturesque blog on our new home. But before that just thought of penning down
the six months of shifting to HO and watching the below picture!
