Diwali Celebration: Year 2015
We received the above mail on 06.11.2015 at 03:40pm and as
specified, in five minutes everyone rushed to Shraddha’s desk to pick
the chit. Not only programmers but also the managers were equally enthusiast in
this activity. We do celebrate Diwali at home with family and friends; but the
feeling of celebrating the same with our System’s family is truly different. We
had to do decorations as per the zones (NORTH, SOUTH, EAST and WEST) and come
in traditional avatar. All these creative ideas, led by PS (Priyanka
Salvi), come up just three to four days prior with no compromise on our
work. House-keeping folks will help us with the floor decorations which go on
till 9pm a day prior to the event. Finally, it was 10.11.2015 and we were
greeted by this lovely rangoli at the entrance.
We were allotted time for Bay decorations till 10.30am.
It reminded of the decorations we did during College festivals. Truly speaking,
our workplace is like another college. Then we had photo shoot for an hour. It
is difficult to fit the whole family into one frame. Deepak Sir randomly called
up people who were around. “Ae Shyam, hum sabka ek family photo le naa” That person, whatever
his name was, started acting like a professional photographer. He clicked once,
and then checked it; he clicked again, checked it. We were wondering… At last
he gave thumbs up! And we were done with the photo session. This is our Family Photo:
Have a look at some of the bay decorations:
Lucknow: Nawabi kebabs, Non-Veg, Kulfi, Lassi
Ayodhya: Full of Lights, Ravan-dahan
West Bengal: Durga Puja, no pic of Rasgulla (eaten!)
South India: Rice, Idli-chutni, Pongal, Banana, Vada, Coconut
Welcome to Goa: Beaches, Ship, Carnival
Jai Maharashtra: Ganpati Bappa Morya! Shivaji Maharaj, Diwali faral, Mumbai special Vada-pav, Jhunka-bhaakar, Puranpoli
Gujarat: Navratri, Kaipoche, Dhokla, Fafda
Rajasthan: Thali, Camels in desert
Not just this, we also have decorated desks:
As usual we have the Housie: fast five, first row,
last row, middle row and full housie. This year we got a chance to tag our
friends. For team activities we had “Guess
the Jingle”. There were old advertisements played without music and we had
to guess the lyrics and sing it. Credit goes to Chandu (Chandrashekhar Todur), Sayali Ranadive and
team for this game. Those Ads were tough to guess; we couldn’t help Google-ing on our smart-phones. There
was Diwali Word Game: crossword and word search puzzle.
