First Salary Cheque

First things in life are always special; sharing one such experience of getting my first salary cheque. My first salary was in cheque because we didn't had a salary account then. On 5th Sept, I received the cheque from Simki Shah, Accounts Department at 3rd floor of HO building. He congratulated me for the first salary. I ran down the granite marble semicircular stairs, sat on one of the black couch and opened the envelope. It was an HDFC bank cheque which had my name and the amount. Though it was a 5digit number starting from one, the happiness it gave was infinity. Whatever amount may be, first salary is first salary! I know everyone goes through similar feeling. It wasn't a full salary since I joined on 13th of Aug. Now on I would pay my own bills, railway pass, mobile recharge and all such small expenses for which I received pocket money from Papa. It would also lessen the financial burden on his shoulders. A lot was coming to this mind at that moment but I had to go back in KTS5 and do my work. Yes, half a month hard-work paid off. I deposited the cheque in bank. When the amount was credited we had sandwich and ice cream party at home. That's it, no more spending of money according to Papa. Gifts you can bring on our birthdays, not with the first salary; was his clear instructions. I did buy all the necessary stuff like a few more formals, pair of sandals and a new bag for office.
