School Days: Computer Practicals
We had Computers as a
subject since Class III. Manisha teacher, Krupa
Malankar teacher and Krishna Sutrave Sir taught us then.
We learnt about the history and evolution of different generations of
computers, DOS (Disk Operating System),
RAM and ROM memory, etc. Our practical lab was in the extreme left corner on
ground floor. The three sides of the room had PCs and the fourth side had a
blackboard and table desk and chairs for Computer faculty. Class V onwards we
got to use the mouse. There always used to be fights on which batch will be
going for the practical session and which batch will attend the theory session.
At last Krishna Sir implemented the idea to note down the batch attending the
practical session. We had QBasic in Class VI taught by Ranjana Kolwankar teacher.
We also had the algorithms and flowchart diagrams. Class VII to Class IX had
all the Microsoft Office Components
like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, etc. It was a kind of MSCIT plus
additional information. We even had general knowledge and syllabus related
online quizzes to solve before exams. During Class IX, there was a Competitive
Exam NRIKD to learn and enhance our
computer skills. We also a new lab on the second floor adjacent to science lab.
The chairs were a bit different, cushioned with dark pink velvet cover. We had
more PCs now; we sat in pairs and roll no wise to do the assignments. We had
Visual Basics in Class X. Janhavi teacher took some of the
practical sessions. After board exams many friends enrolled for some Computer
classes. We didn't required to do it since we already knew the basics; thanks
to our Computer teachers.
