Around South East Asia: Part Five

In which I explored the Sunway Lagoon

09.12.2022: Tour Day 3, City 4

Though I woke up early in the morning, I had to wait for my turn to use the washroom. When timeslots are decided, people should stick to those. Never mind, I got ready and had breakfast at 8am. Post that all assembled in the reception area. Many group photos were clicked. We boarded the bus for a city orientation tour. I had a sleepy tour. At 10:15am, we halted at the King's Palace.

Istana Negara

The official residence of the King of Malaysia is located in Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur. The palace is surrounded by beautiful gardens that are meticulously maintained. The gardens feature various flora and fauna, including rare species of plants and trees. We walked till the main gate and had a photo stop. We drove further and reached the Sunway City at 11am.

Sunway Lagoon

It is an amusement park located in Sunway City, Subang Jaya, Selangor. The 88-acre park is built 150 feet below ground level on a tin mining wasteland and currently has 90 attractions spread across six parks. It includes Water Park, Amusement Park, Wildlife Park, Extreme Park, Scream Park & Sunway Lost Lagoon. Today I was determined to explore to the fullest. We had to descend six levels via escalators. The entry band was tied on wrist and food coupons were distributed. A few started with the Wildlife Park while a few with the Water Park. Here I met Laxmi Bendkhale and Amruta Chavan.

The Wildlife Park

It is an interactive and educational zoo with exotic, small and friendly animals from a range of birds, reptiles and mammals. Each of the animal sanctuaries has a different name such as Pet Village, Jungle Trail, Aviary, Tropical Enclosure, Tree Top Terrace and Bird Savannah. We started with watching the Macaw parrots. Here we could feed them, let them land on our arm and shoulder and click photos.

We further watched some rabbits. Further we watched the Flamingoes

Then we visited the Koi Pond to watch colored fishes and a small waterfall. There were peacocks as well in this area. We watched different types of parrots and birds. We watched a leopard, bears, etc. There was a pair of white lions

The trail ended with watching the white tiger moving to and fro.

The Amusement Park

The World of Adventure features Pirate’s Revenge, Lost City of Gold Scream Coaster, Apache Pots, Wagon Wheel, Carousel and Malaysia’s Longest Pedestrian Suspension Bridge. We started with the Pirate's ship at 12:30pm.

The Pirate's Revenge
A 360-degree rotating pirate ship in the shape of a galleon. Get ready to be swivel upside down from the ground! Chaitali, Amruta, Vrushali and I took this ride.

Apache Pots
The whole group sat in these pots, version of the cup and saucer. I remembered that the pot in which I, Tanvi, Apurva, Chaitali sat did not stop at all! Others had to stop it.

Pedestrian Suspension Bridge
The Malaysia Book of Records Holder for the longest bridge in the world at 428m length. Get a bird-eye view of the entire park from 60 feet above the lake. We had to climb a floor or so to reach the bridge and walk through an illusion. We walked for a few minutes on this bridge but got back since it would have taken time to go to the other end.

Lost City of Gold Scream Coaster

Hold on tight and scream your way as you ride the rip-roaring twists and turns of Sunway Lagoon’s roller coaster. It was a cool ride. While we were enjoying the ride, group members were resting on the benches and holding our bags.

Everyone enjoyed the Wagon Wheel, and we passed by the Carousel. Done with the Amusement and Wildlife Park, we headed for lunch at 2:15pm. We had coupons to redeem. We ordered Cubes Pizza and had lunch at 2:45pm.
The lunch area was adjacent to the Water Park. We watched the Cameroon Climb, Giant Tipping Bucket, Kid's section. I really wanted to do the Waterplexx 5D, but we were short of time. X-Park was closed for the day. No one was ready for the Scream Park. We got back to the meeting point at 4pm. While everyone was clicking photos, I went to watch the Surf Beach.

Surf Beach (World’s Largest Surf Pool)
You can either laze in the beach or for the thrill seekers you can enjoy surfing or body boarding and beach volleyball. Stretching over 13,000 square meters, the Surf Beach is capable of churning out perfectly shaped waves up to the maximum height of eight feet. The ability to condition the waves according to the needs of the surfers in terms of height, time and wave patterns makes it a surfer’s paradise for both professional and aspiring surfers.

The bus dropped the shopping enthusiasts at the nearest mall and the tired ones like me to the hotel. I finally had a clean washroom to use today, took a nice shower and dozed off for a while. My roommate had a bad shopping day. She expected me to help her, without even mentioning the same. I would have said a straight no since I have a strict no shopping policy. We drove to restaurant Havelly for dinner. It's a Punjabi restaurant, was celebrating the wedding anniversary, had a musical evening by singer Rahil. We enjoyed the food and the music to the fullest. We had a dance party at the end. This was the last night in the truly Asian country. We had to do the packing and keep our luggage ready for we were driving to Singapore after breakfast. Finally, 11th country ticked off in my bucket list.
