GetFit with HealthifyMe: Part One

The App

The pandemic had added extra kilos on me. I wanted to shed off those asap. I thought of hitting the gym. Now I had heard a lot of (dis)encouraging stories from friends who took the gym membership and had hardly walked the gym way after 15 days. I knew that even I would end up the same. It was around this thinking phase of 2021 that a mail popped into my official mailbox. "We are Launching GetFit Asian Paints", to know more, join the zoom session. I joined the session to know that Asian Paints had made a tie-up with HealthifyMe and the first 500 employees to enrol for the At Home Workouts, would get the sessions free of cost for 3 months. Now there was no excuse to workouts. I was thinking of the gym and the virtual gym was just a zoom session away. Without thinking much, I enrolled for the program. We had to download the HealthifyMe App and register on with our official mail id. After 24 hours, the subscription started. This was the 2021 birthday gift to self since the sessions started from 26th Aug.


The HealthifyStudio
There is a plethora of workouts and yoga sessions to choose from. We just need to select the workout and book the session. We get a Whatsapp reminder 30 minutes prior to the session. Use the zoom id to join the session. 


The only rule here is that the video must be on throughout the session so that the trainer can watch us and guide if we are doing the exercise correctly. I had learned a lot about different types of exercises and yoga. Just to summarize on the different sessions, I diligently attended during the WFH period:

Trackers
Apart from the studio workouts, there is a Goal Settings page to set a target on weight, daily step counter, etc. There is a Health Log to capture the history of body measurements. So now we have a clear track of whether the weight is reducing or increasing. 

We can also track our food intake and the app shows whether we are high on calories or low and how much calories should we burn.
