Around Africa: Part Seven

In which I explored Aswan

16.12.2023: Tour Day 5, City 4

I woke up to the sound of chirping sea birds outside my window. What an amazing morning it is, though it is cold. Let me take you on a short tour of the Nile cruise I boarded last evening.
The reception as we walk into the cruise, this is level two.
There are rooms on this level alongwith the small book and souvenir outlet, sitting area, clothing outlet, timetable, etc. My twin sharing room is on this level. The washroom is quite compact but manageable.
Level one is the dining area wherein we have buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also a photo gallery. Level three also has rooms. Since it was christmas month, the cruise had the theme applied. The upper deck has a lounge bar and entertainment area with pool game in one corner and a library in another corner.

There is an open swimming pool on astern side and a lot of seats available to lie down for sun-bath.

There were normal cushioned seats as well for those who want to just chill and take in fresh air. There were rescue boats attached on the rear end.

There was a massage parlour as well on the edge. The front end of the cruise had sitting area as well, with stairs to go down on level three.

I had breakfast at 8am. There were a variety of options to choose from and live counter for omlette, etc.
We gathered in the reception area to start with today's sightseeing. Here is the sailing route from Aswan to Luxor.
We left the cruise at 9am, boarded the bus and drove to the dam.

Aswan High Dam
It is one of the world's largest embankment dams, designed for both irrigation and power generation, incorporates a number of relatively new features, including a very deep grout curtain below its base. We reached the dam at 9:30am and clicked some photos.

Some did shop and enjoyed refreshments. We further headed to the Philae temple anchorage point to board a ferry ride to reach the temple.
We reached the point at 10:30am and scanned our tickets. The ticket scanning sometimes had an issue. We walked our way to the ferry passing by a lot of souvenirs hawkers. We boarded the ferry and reached the temple at 11am. More on the temple in next post.
