Cricket with Life
Once while watching the cricket match reluctantly; because my brother
didn't budge to give away the remote; I just realized that we actually play
cricket in real life too. I think too much as always and now the too much has
got a way to come out from my mind to the pen. I wore the gloves, put on the helmet,
took my bat and set off to play cricket with life. My first goal was to make a century.
I
was batting and life was bowling. Now, the first ball was bowled and
before I could hit it; it hit the stumps and I was out.
This taught me that you never get success on the first shot; you need to
strive hard. The next match, again the goal was to score century but also not
to get out at zero. Having experienced a duck, I was prepared now. I
was hitting the ball but was unable to make runs because every time I hit it,
it was stopped by a fielder. These fielders were the hurdles or obstacles which
stop you from achieving something. Sooner I even realized that if you do the
same thing which you have always done; you will get the same result which you
have always gotten. Search for opportunities amongst the obstacles; this taught me
to be optimistic. If you hit the ball in direction of the fielder; of course
they will stop it. Find gaps between them and let the ball through. Once the ball
started crossing the first circle; I was sure enough that I can run through to
the other end. While doing that I was run-out! You should be careful
while doing things. Now for making a century, it won't do with just 1s and 2s.
You need to hit the ball harder to reach the boundary. That means more hardworking
and patience is required. The first boundary is the first success. Now
why stop at boundaries; surpass your limits and go for a six!
I hit the ball in the air with a hope to score a six and the fielder caught it.
I
call this an uncalculated risk! You should hit the ball with such
intensity that it should go beyond the reach of any fielder. I
call this as calculated risk. Scoring those 4s and 6s; I reached till
99. Now I was just 1 run away from century and I was out! Sometimes we
do lose
even when we are so closer to success. But yes we do gain
experience each time we fail. Again optimism shoots up here with
positive spirit to start again from zero. Now that’s life; it moves on. You
can't stop due to failure; you have to overcome them. Finally I scored my first
century. Keep striving hard and success will be yours one day. Cricket of life
does not only have batsman and bowler and fielders. There is an umpire
God and audience of friends and anonymous viewers. Anonymous crowd
may say, "Will she, won't she?" while the friends will say, "Go
for it girl! I know you can do it!” Friends are your all
time cheer girls who dance with joy on your success; celebrate when you
are the Man of the match; put a caring hand on your shoulders when you are
knocked out and say, "There is always a next time".
Your initial sponsor for this game is your father; till you start
earning yourself. This sponsor will always be there even if you make losses
initially. The profit for him is getting recognition as "Your Father".
And your nutritionist is your mother who will see to it that in this game you
are always fit to face challenges. So this was all I thought of until I
got the TV remote! If I have missed on anything, you can add it in comments.
One word. Amazing :)
