Mastering via Distance: Part Two

Second Angle

Everyone was awaiting results of SEM I. The lectures of Accounts (Accounting and Financial Management) started by end of Jan. Again these were conducted by the Course Coordinator. I didn't attend but got to hear the stories from batch-mates. We were doing crash course on almost every subject. Then the Head of IT took CG (Computer Graphics) lectures; the assignments given had no relation with the syllabus though those were relevant to real world. The third subject was Soft Skills (Communication and Soft Skills); again the same story. I was keeping away from theory lectures; awaiting practicals to start so that I could meet friends. Data Structures was taken by Mehul Sir. The practical sessions on shell programming (Operating System) started in March and I started attending college. Also the results were out! The PnS (Probability and Statistics) lectures were again taken by Anahita Ma'am. The PnS ghost haunted many for a year! It was the culprit to separate many of our batch-mates. Probability was tricky maths; need to apply different logic on each question. Statistics was easy for we had to only remember the formulae. Varsha Singh helped by sharing her notes. Here the xerox shop outside college was in business for we ordered a lot of copies of PnS by Vaidya Sir. These notes were all time hit amongst students. Another useful stuff was Vipul Prakashan but it was difficult to get those in market. The university notes worth 5000+ amount were worthless. Again the assignment submissions were done. This time there was no hustle and bustle and marathon to college to submit the files. I was lucky to have my younger brother in the Commerce stream; was learning the basics of accounts from him. How did we manage to make those three sheets of the compulsory question; it included Profit and Loss and Balance sheets. Vidya Shinde helped out to solve the questions from Soft Skills paper during the train journeys. The first week of May passed in doing with the practical exams. Only we know how we managed to complete with those long practical programmes. Then there was a big confusion with exam centers. I got SIES College, Nerul. OMG! Gitesh and others went to university to sort this out. Such cases were allowed to write exam in the university itself. This included me and Karishma also.It was memorable sitting below the trees and doing last moment revisions, drinking juices, sharing one auto-rickshaw on the way to station for each paper. Finally the exams were over and this marked the completion of second angle on the hexagon journey. Again, it was nice two weeks of summer vacation from office!
